Rayshunda Holt (Ms. Ray) is a mogul, mother, oracle, alchemist, hair stylist, and teacher of higher wisdom.
This lady has raised the bar in the black community about hair awareness. She makes her own products popularly known as Natural Essences, helping customers with natural hair to rediscover the beauty that it holds without destroying the hair with relaxers, sewin’s and wigs.
She is a proud mother of five children and a grandson. Meanwhile, she continues to do an extensive research and training to be able to provide knowledgeable information to those embracing the natural realm.
Ms. Ray uses education with her customers, teaching them how to love their hair again and rebuild a relationship with it. She exposes her client to an ancient people that lived in Khemet formally known as Egypt, during the time when black people ruled this land they wore loc’s, braids, and wigs all naturally made. Ms. Ray see’s that revisiting the past has its benefits, when you can reach back into time to help move the future. She says “When people come to her shop she wants them to feel like Kings and Queens, be pampered, relaxed, it allows you to let go“. “Stress is the main hair killer, the way we eat, the environment, and how we live everyday effects the way our body reacts and it communicates to us. The question is, “Are you paying attention?” says Ms. Ray.
Recent studies have shown that hair relaxers lead to many diseases like cancer, as Ms. Ray puts it “Your skin is the largest organ you have, and it absorbs these chemicals in your body. This causes illness over a period of time”. She also provides stimulating scalp massages, which a lot of her clients have benefited from; claiming it has brought the hair back to its original strength. Ms. Ray has also helped customers with balding recover their hair with her rosemary hair treatment. She uses ancient massage techniques specifically designed to help the scalp with releasing stress through special pressure points she activates through the crown chakra.
It’s time that we move towards an organic lifestyle taking care of nature so she can take care of us.
Ms. Ray has a love and a passion to help African Americans and all cultures to embrace their natural beauty. Showing love for self first and not falling victim to American standards of beauty. "This is a big world", she says, and if we all were suppose to look alike, it would be boring. Ms. Ray; encourages all men, women and children of all cultures to embrace “The Natural Essence of You.”
